A casualty list for Rodes' Brigade in the Montgomery Weekly Advertiser of 8 October 1862 has him as B.E. Beril, and says he was wounded on South Mountain. A sketch of the regiment in the SHSP 2 says he was killed at Sharpsburg (offset, like the others on the list, by one battle), as Edward Bevil. Personal details from family genealogists.
