Before Sharpsburg
An unmarried 29 year old farmer in Farmersville, he enlisted as Private, Company A, 44th Alabama Infantry on 17 March 1862 at Pleasant Hill. He was absent sick at 2nd Manassas, VA in August, but returned to duty soon after.
On the Campaign
He was killed "dead on the field" in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

His service from the State of Alabama,1 also as L. Ashbury Blalock. His death at Sharpsburg is also on a casualty list in the Montgomery Weekly Advertiser of 8 October 1862. Personal details from family genealogists, at least one of whom has his birth in 1838. He's also seen as Blalack.
