Before Sharpsburg

A married 31 year old farmer in Pine Apple, AL, he enlisted as Private, Company C, 44th Alabama Infantry on 28 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot to his left arm and shoulder in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital #5 in Richmond, VA on 5 November 1862 and died there on the 25th of infection from his wounds. His widow filed for his final pay of $116.71 in June 1863 and her agent in Richmond was finally paid on 15 March 1865.
