An unmarried 18 year old farmer in Wetumpka, AL, he enlisted as Private, Company B, 8th Alabama Infantry on 15 May 1861. He was wounded at Gaines' Mill, VA in June 1862 and returned to duty just before the Maryland Campaign.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
