Before Sharpsburg
An unmarried 17 year old student in Lebanon, AL, he enlisted as Private, Company G, 48th Alabama Infantry on 12 April 1862 in Hendrixville.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured.
The rest of the War
He died, probably at a field hospital near the battlefield, on 27 September 1862 "in the hands of the enemy."
