A married 31 year old farmer at Big Spring, he enlisted as Corporal, Company D, 48th Alabama Infantry on 7 April 1862 in Warrington.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and was captured.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 27 September 1862, probably at a field hospital near the battlefield.
