Before Sharpsburg
A 29 year old farmer in Pitt County, he enlisted as Private in Company C of the 17th North Carolina Infantry on 26 April 1861. He was discharged for disability on 7 July 1861 but enlisted again, on 21 September 1861, in Company B, 33rd North Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
