Before Sharpsburg
In 1850 he was a 30 year old tailor in Wilmington, New Hanover County, NC. He enlisted there on 17 January 1862 as a Private in Company F, 3rd North Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured, and died the same day at the Federal Franklin's Corps field hospital on the Michael Miller farm near the battlefield.
