Before Sharpsburg
A 27 year old civil engineer on the Wilmington and Rutherford Railroad, he enlisted on 22 April 1861 in Anson County as First Sergeant of Company C, 14th North Carolina Infantry. On 18 October 1861 he transferred as First Lieutenant to Company H, 3rd North Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
