A 30 year old steamboatsman, he enlisted in Mobile as Private, Company B, 3rd Alabama Infantry, and was probably promoted to Sergeant (possibly First Sergeant), dates not given.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was appointed 3rd Lieutenant (or Junior 2nd Lieutenant) on 26 May 1863, but was killed at Cedar Creek, VA on 19 October 1864.
