Age 30, he enlisted and mustered in New York City on 30 September 1861 as Private, Company C, 10th New York Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD with diarrhea on 23 November 1862 and died there on 15 January 1863.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
