Before Antietam

Age 42, he enlisted on 14 September 1861 in Charlton for three years and mustered as Wagoner, Company H, 77th New York Infantry on 1 October. He was made a Private on 22 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD with diarrhea on 6 October and died there on 14 November 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
