Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 18 year old farmer in Wetumpka, he enlisted there as Private, Company B, 8th Alabama Infantry on 13 May 1861. He was wounded at Frazier's Farm, VA on 30 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and was later cited for bravery there on a regimental Roll of Honor.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to 4th Sergeant by December 1862. He was wounded at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863 and was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863, having been noted as "conspicuous for bravery."
