Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted in Tuskegee as a Private in Company C, 3rd Alabama Infantry on 27 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862 and captured.
The rest of the War
He was held at Fort Delaware, then sent to Aiken's Landing, VA on 2 October and declared exchanged there on 10 November. He was furloughed home on the 15th to Warrior Stand, AL, sick. He was mortally wounded on 5 May 1864 in the Wilderness, VA and died at a field hospital nearby on 7 May, then age 24 years.
