He enlisted in Tuskegee as a Private in Company C, 3rd Alabama Infantry on 27 April 1861.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was held at Fort Delaware, then sent to Aiken's Landing, VA on 2 October and exchanged there on 10 November 1862. He was in Howard's Grove Hospital in Richmond with intermittent fever from May to 13 June 1864 and in Chimborazo Hospital #9 in Richmond from 28 June until returned to duty on 12 July. He was killed at Winchester, VA on 19 September 1864.
