Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted in Union Springs as a Private in Company D, 3rd Alabama Infantry on 26 April 1861. He was appointed 4th Corporal on 27 January 1862.
On the Campaign
He was later cited for bravery in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was appointed 4th Sergeant by August 1863, but was killed, probably at Cold Harbor, VA, on 2 June 1864.
