He enlisted at Camp Blanchard, GA as Private, Company A, 22nd Georgia Infantry on 27 February 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was slightly wounded at Chancellorsville, VA on 2 or 3 May 1863. He was admitted to a Richmond, VA hospital on 16 May 1864 for a gunshot wound and was furloughed for 30 days on 9 June. He was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House on 9 April 1865.
