Joseph Caughlin

About age 20, from Richmond County, he enlisted at Camp McDonald, Cobb County, GA as Private, Company K, 22nd Georgia Infantry on 31 August 1861. They were reorganized as Company A by November 1861.

He was slightly wounded in the face in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

He was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital #4 in Richmond, VA on 6 December 1862 with pneumonia and died there on 16 January 1863, possibly of apoplexy (a cerebral hemorrhage or stroke).

His service from Henderson's Roster,1 which says he was appointed Corporal in 1862, and his Compiled Service Record (CSR) at the US National Archives, online via fold3.
