Before Sharpsburg

A 17 year old farm boy in Murrary County, he enlisted as Private, Company D, 22nd Georgia Infantry on 3 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his face in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 4 October and furloughed to Tilton, GA on 9 October 1862. He returned to duty but was killed at the Crater near Petersburg, VA on 30 July 1864.
