Before Sharpsburg

A farmer in Buncombe, he enlisted as Private, Company H, 7th Georgia Infantry on 28 May 1861 in Roswell, and transferred to Company E, 22nd Georgia Infantry on 6 June 1862 in Richmond, VA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the hip in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was paroled on 30 September and returned to duty. He was detailed as a teamster in the Reserve Ordnance train, ANV from 10 May to at least 30 September 1863 but died of pneumonia in Lynchburg, VA on 21 May 1864.
