References & notes

His service from Henderson1 and his Compiled Service Record, online via fold3. Personal details from family genealogists, at least one of whom believes he was killed outright at Sharpsburg, and the US Census for 1860. A memorial for him is on Findagrave, though there is very little chance he was buried at Antietam National Cemetery, even if he was killed there.
