On the Campaign
He was left behind, sick, and captured (initially listed as killed at Turner's Gap on South Mountain) at Frederick, MD about 13 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was paroled at Fortress Monroe, VA and sent to Aiken's Landing, VA for exchange on 2 October 1862. He returned to duty and was captured at Five Forks, VA on 1 April 1865, sent to Point Lookout, MD, and released on 29 June 1865.
