Before Sharpsburg
Age 16, he enlisted as Private, Company D, 13th South Carolina Infantry on 26 March 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in a hospital in Richmond by 27 October when he was furloughed home for 30 days to recover. He was back with his Company by March 1863 and served until surrendered at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
After the War
By 1870 he was working on a farm in Laurens, SC and he had his own place from 1880 to at least 1900.
