Before Sharpsburg

Age 21, he enlisted as Private, Company F, 13th South Carolina Infantry on 29 August 1861 at Spartanburg Court House.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was back with his Company by November 1862. He was wounded at Gettysburg, PA and captured on 5 July 1863. He was in the US hospital in Chester, PA to the end of the month, paroled and sent to City Point, VA on 17 August, and then in CS hospitals in Williamsburg and Farmville, VA until furloughed home on 15 September. He was in a Richmond, VA hospital with dysentery in May and June 1864. He was admitted to a Richmond hospital on 18 August 1864 for a gunshot to his left foot and furloughed home on the 25th with no later military record.

After the War

In 1880 he was keeping a grist mill at Spartanburg, SC.
