From the Fairfield District, he enlisted as Private, Company B, 17th South Carolina Infantry on 1 January 1862 at Camp Lee in Charleston.
On the Campaign
He was captured (listed as missing) in action at Boonsboro (Turner's Gap) on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was held at Fort Delaware, sent to Aikens' Landing, VA on 2 October and declared exchanged there on 10 November 1862. He died in Richmond, VA before December, cause and date not given.
