Before Sharpsburg
From the Fairfield District, he enlisted as Private, Company G (later B), 17th South Carolina Infantry on 14 December 1861 at Camp Hampton near Columbia, SC.
On the Campaign
He was in action at Boonsboro (Turner's Gap) on South Mountain, MD on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of typhoid fever in the CS General Hospital in Staunton, VA on 11 November 1862.
