From the Barnwell District, he enlisted as Private, Company G, 17th South Carolina Infantry on 2 January 1862.

On the Campaign

He was severely wounded in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 28 September and furloughed on 9 October. He was absent on wounded furlough to at least the end of February 1863 with no later military record.
