He was in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal on 31 October 1864 and was captured at Petersburg, VA on 25 March 1865. He was a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD until released on 22 June 1865.
