John K. Molloy

An unmarried 24 year old clerk in New Orleans, he enlisted on 7 June 1861 at Camp Moore near Tangipahoa, LA and mustered the same day as a Private in Company A, 7th Louisiana Infantry.

He was wounded by a gunshot to his left arm (place not given) and captured near Frederick, MD on 12 September 1862.

He was treated at US Army General Hospital #1 in Frederick, MD and had resection surgery. He was afterward a prisoner at Fort Delaware to 2 October, then transferred to Aikens Landing, VA for exchange. He was formally declared exchanged on 10 November, but had been certified as disabled and detailed on 15 October 1862 as a clerk to the CS Army Quartermaster General's office in Richmond, VA. He served at that post to the end of the war.

By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a liquor dealer with a store in Richmond, VA.

He married Sophia Wemmell (1844-) in November 1864 in Richmond, and they had 11 children.
