An unmarried 42 year old laborer in Donaldsonville, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th Louisiana Infantry on 7 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.
On the Campaign
He was captured at Boonsboro, MD on 18 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was sent to Aikens' Landing, VA on 2 October 1862 for exchange. He was listed on the later muster rolls as a deserter after 15 September 1862 in Maryland and a roll for 15 March 1865 says he joined General "McAusland's Cavalry."
