An unmarried 26 year old clerk in New Orleans, he enlisted as First Sergeant of Company E, 7th Louisiana Infantry at Camp Moore, LA on 7 June 1861. He was elected 2nd Lieutenant on 7 December 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was back with his Company by January 1863 and was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863.
