An unmarried 23 year old broom maker in Livingston Parish, he enlisted as Private, Company K, 7th Louisiana Infantry in New Orleans on 13 January 1862 in Ponchatoula, LA.
On the Campaign
He was in action at Harpers Ferry on 15 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in a hospital in Richmond, VA in November and December 1862. He was severely wounded by a gunshot through both hips near Fredericksburg, VA on 4 May 1863 and furloughed home on 17 June. He was there for the rest of the war.
