He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was promoted to Sergeant on 1 June 1863 but was mortally wounded at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July and captured at a hospital near the battlefield on 5 July. He died of wounds there, date not given.
