Before Sharpsburg
Age 28, from Wake County, he was conscripted as Private, Company G, First North Carolina Infantry on 15 July 1862 in Raleigh.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the ankle in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was at Chimborazo Hospital #5 in Richmond, VA from 1 October until returned to duty on 16 December 1862. He was killed at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 10 May 1864.
