On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was back with his Company by November 1862 but was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital #3 in Richmond, VA with phthisis (tuberculosis or lung disease) on 24 March 1863 and died there on 1 April 1863.
