Age 17, he enlisted as a Private in Company F, 4th Texas Infantry on 18 March 1862 at Hallettsville, TX.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 28 September 1862, place not given.
