Before Antietam
From Hartford, he enrolled as a Private in Company B, 16th Connecticut Infantry on 11 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862 and captured.
The rest of the War
He was paroled on 28 September. He was transferred to the 41st Company, 2nd Battalion, Veteran Reserve Corps 8 August 1863 and promoted to Corporal on 1 January 1865. He was discharged on 10 August 1865.
After the War
He died relatively young, age 28, in 1867.
