Before Antietam
A farm worker in Suffield, he enlisted as a Private in Company D, 16th Connecticut Infantry on 15 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was transferred to Company F, 9th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps on 29 August 1863, promoted to Corporal on on 22 September, and discharged on 26 June 1865.
