From Manchester, he enlisted as a Private in Company H, 16th Connecticut Infantry on 24 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was transferred to Company D, 6th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps on 21 October 1863 and discharged on 5 July 1865.

After the War

He took his own life in 1886 at age 45.
