A 43 year old farmer in Stafford, he enlisted as a Private in Company I, 16th Connecticut Infantry on 30 July 1862.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was paroled on 6 October 1862 and returned to duty. He was discharged on 6 June 1865.
