A 24 year old farmer from Pike County, he enlisted in Zebulon as a Private in Company E, 53rd Georgia Infantry on 5 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a Richmond, VA hospital by 27 September and furloughed in November. He was in hospitals in Danville and Richmond, VA from July to October 1863 when he was again on furlough. He was listed as a deserter as of January 1864, but had detached service in the Quartermaster's Department later that year, and was again listed as absent without leave in February 1865 with no later military record.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1900 he was a farmer in Pike County, GA.
