He enlisted on 18 March 1861 as a Private in Company A, First (Ramsey's) Georgia Infantry and was discharged on 2 February 1862 in Winchester, VA. He enlisted again, as 4th Corporal of Company D, 53rd Georgia Infantry on 6 May 1862 in Coweta County.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was absent wounded to at least 31 October 1862 and died, cause not given, at Lynchburg, VA on 3 July 1863.
