Before Sharpsburg

From Henry County, he enlisted at McDonough as a Private in Company F, 53rd Georgia Infantry on 2 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD by 13 October when he was paroled and sent to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange. He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 19 October and given a 30 day furlough on 25 October 1862.

He was in a Richmond hospital for gastritis on 9 May 1863 and sent to Lynchburg, VA on 12 May. He died of pneumonia in CS General Hospital #2 in Lynchburg, VA on 16 June 1863 and was buried in the Confederate Cemetery there.

After the War

He was reinterred in Henry County, GA, date not given.
