He enlisted as a Private in Company A, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 at Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded, his "elbow broken" in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Charlottesville, VA from 23 to 27 September, then on furlough. By the end of 1864 and into February 1865 he was on detail to Brigade Headquarters, with no later military record.
