Before Antietam
Age 32, he enlisted as a Private in Company B, 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry on 10 August 1861 in Philadelphia.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in the side in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in the New Church, Frederick, MD on 1 October and died there on 30 December 1862.
