Before Antietam

From Presque Isle, he enlisted as a Sergeant in Company I, 7th Maine Infantry on 21 August 1861. He was First Sergeant by September 1862.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was probably commissioned Captain, Company C in October 1862. He was killed at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864.
