He enlisted as a Private in Company I, 31st Virginia Infantry, date not given. He was sick in CSA Hospitals in Winchester and at Mt. Jackson, VA in May and June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of dysentery on 20 (or 15) October 1862 at the US Army hospital at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg, PA.
