Before Sharpsburg

Known by Leon, in 1860 he was a 20 year old student living with his wealthy father and older brother Antoine in Baton Rouge, LA. He enlisted as 4th Corporal of Company A, 8th Louisiana Infantry on 19 June 1861 at Camp Moore and was promoted to Sergeant on 27 August, but was reduced to Private on 3 October 1861. He was wounded at Winchester, VA on 25 May 1862 and captured there, but was exchanged and returned to duty on 5 August.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863.
