He was probably wounded in action in Maryland in September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was on wounded furlough from 19 September to 20 October 1862 and he was wounded again, at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863. He died of chronic diarrhea in Knight's Factory Hospital (CS General Hospital #2) in Lynchburg, VA on 12 June 1864.
