He enlisted as a Private in Company B, 33rd Virginia Infantry on 18 June 1861 at Tom's Brook, VA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was absent, recovering, to at least the end of 1862. He was listed as absent without leave from 22 July 1863 and by October 1863 declared a deserter. There is no later military record.

After the War

In 1880 he was a laborer in the Stonewall District of Shenandoah County, VA.
